The publication enables readers to familiarize themselves with the concept of food systems, as well as with the factors, actors, and processes that influence food supply, including consumption. The current situation is presented on the basis of available data, indicators, and information.
The publication opens an important discussion on sustainable food supply; however, due to lack of avilable reliable data does not yet comprehensively address all key aspects of the system, ranging from production and processing to distribution, retail, consumption, and food waste.
Therefore, to ensure a broader and more in-depth examination of the elements, conditions, challenges, and potential solutions for the sustainable development of the food supply system, an additional study is planned to build upon the findings of this publication.
